3 Housing Options for Geckos
You need to take into account the habitat that Gecko’s would usually live in and try and mimic this as best you can to avoid your Gecko becoming stressed, also you need to be aware that Gecko’s are nocturnal so don’t expect them to be lively during the day time. Gecko’s, although quite easy to keep, can be quite delicate so it is vital that you understand all about them before deciding that you want to keep one as a pet.
1) Exo Terra Glass Terrarium – This terrarium has been designed by European herpetologists and is an ideal home for Geckos, the terrariums do vary in size and can range from 30cmx30cmx30cm to 90cmx45cmx60cm, the ideal size for 1 gecko would be the 30cmx30cmx30cm, for 2 45cmx45cmx45cm and for 3 60cmx45cmx45cm. These terrariums also have the added feature of opening front doors making it much easier for maintenance and feeding. 2) Viv Exotic Wooden Vivariums – This type of home can make a very attractive addition to your home, as well as being a perfect housing option for your Gecko. There are a number of sizes available from 24 inch to 55 inch but you would really be looking to keep 2 Gecko’s in a 24 inch, 3 in a 36inch, 5 in a 48 inch and 5+ in a 55 inch. 3) Zoo Med Reptibreeze Screen Cage – This is an open air cage which is a perfect housing option for Gecko’s, Species such as Day Geckos and Crested Geckosare ideally suited for this cage. Designed specifically for smaller reptiles it is made from corrosion resistant aluminium, has front opening doors to make maintenance and feeding much easier and also has to added bonus of looking great. The Reptibreeze cage arrives flat packed but is easy to assemble and includes everything needed for construction expect for a screw driver which you will need to supply. There are a number of size options available too from 40cmx40cmx50cm to 61cmx61cmx122cm and to give you an idea you would need the 40cmx40cmx50cm for up to 2 geckos and 61cmx61cmx122cm for up to 4 geckos.
Keep in mind that the housing is only a small part of the equipment you will need to purchase for you gecko/s, there are a number of other reptile supplies that will be required such as lighting, heating and gecko food. There are starter kits available on the market which will supply all the equipment you need, so it may be an idea to take a look at a starter kit to get an idea of exactly what you will require.
